I was pretty excited when I heard what the latest X-Prize was. I don’t have a life goal to walk on the moon or anything, but playing with an RC car on the moon would be an awesome buzz.
Cringely’s latest article talks about his plans. I like it. I want someone to do it for [...]

Case in point: the remote desktop client that Microsoft offers. It’s brutal. You can only open one session at a time. I’ve heard there are ways to do multiple sessions, but it’s not Apple-N. I’m guessing an intern at Microsoft built it without following any Apple guidelines.
I did find this blog post. There were lots [...]

I think Twiki is one of the best sysadmin tools out there. I’ve been using it in my day to day work for a few years now.
One of my favorite uses is for a Service Journal. This is part of my light weight change management strategy. Each one of my servers gets its own page. [...]

I’m currently in a world where I have my email on Exchange, a black berry and a Mac. It’s not a fun place to be.
Entourage and Blackberries don’t play nice together. Entourage deletes one of the header fields that BB Enterprise Server uses to track emails. Apparently Mail.App does too, as my bb doesn’t know [...]

I’m working on a project that could benefit from mod_log_spread for access logging. I read about it in a few different places. The trick is that I can’t tell if anyone else is using it or if it’s being maintained.
Spread 4.0 was released late last year. The big advantage over the previous versions is that [...]

I stumbled upon a page that hands out Joost invites. I’ve been waiting to try it out, as I’ve heard a lot about it.
I don’t know if they’ve opened their invites, but I’m on it now, and I’m impressed with the technology. I just works. I turned it on and I watch video. I can [...]

While we were on the honeymoon, we did a lot of driving. 4500km worth of driving around the Maritimes of Canada in 2 weeks. Add in the 4 hour time change and we were consuming a lot of caffeinated beverages.
There weren’t too many Starbucks out there (we saw one in downtown Halifax and one in [...]

I was at the Vancouver session yesterday morning. I’m currently satisfied with our infrastructure of TWiki+RT for managing things, but I went in with an open mind.
The software is definitely slick. The UI seems very usable (especially compared to RT). It has some nice AJAX integration as well.
Some of the limitations I saw in the [...]

It’s been about a month now. I haven’t updated since August 12. I like the idea and all, but I think my problem is that my peers aren’t really using the system.
I’m on the tail end my honeymoon right now, and it would have been cool to keep everyone updated. In hindsight, I should have [...]
